One of the worst best things about going abroad for a while is finding all the subtle differences when you get home. In my house for example the usual suspects are completely re-arranged furniture or different wall colors in various rooms stemming from bored females in my life.
Here is the kicker though:
This is my sweater drawer. At least it used to be. I’m reduced to a grand total of two drawers for all my clothing. Talk about embracing constraints.
At various points since my return I tried to bring up the point about gender equality in storage space but I suspect most of you know how well these things usually work…
If you feel like telling Fiona what you think about this “redistribution” of space you should swing by her own blog at infogopher.com or better subscribe. Lots of embarrassing facts about me will surely be revealed there.

Been there.
Though I may have it worse—when I lived in DC I had big walk-in closets. When I moved to New England, I was horrified that these old houses have no such love for some reason.
So I have two drawers out of seven in the dresser, and a third of the closet. The front hall closet contains overflow. Oy. And I would get a wardrobe or something but the bedrooms here are small too, and I’m 6’3” so unless I have a king sized bed my feet hang off.
Sigh.

IKEA makes a spectacular closet organizer for shoes. Unfortunately, their web site’s search functionality is not too good, and I can’t find the name of it right now.

Oh Ben, I have 2 ikea shoe drawer things (also can’t think of the name… krugort or something like that. Unfortunately, they have to be drilled into the walls and we have a small room. Our other room is currently under renovation so he’ll just have to wait ;) Besides, he was barely using the space anyways.

Tobi, maybe you need to lock your side of the closet…
(I’ve given up in my own home; my wife needs all the drawers, and I get a few hangers in a closet and whatever space I can get.)
