Ottawa Ruby Group meeting

Posted by tobi — 07:17 PM Dec 24

Last week we had the first meeting of the Ottawa Group of Ruby Enthusiasts (OGRE) and it was a great success.

With 12 people present we had a fantastic turnout. The most amazing thing however was that about half the people present were actually earning money using Ruby. That makes more people in Ottawa earning their paycheck with our beloved little language in december 2005 then there were payed ruby programmers at RubyConf 2004.

We decited that we will have our next meeting in January and now we are looking for a location. If everything goes well we will make this a regular occurance and meet once a month.

For all those who are interested in lurking there is now a mailing list .

I hope you don’t mind me asking here, but is there a Typo forum community for those who install Typo and then need help? Most blogwares have support forums.

    Thanks :)

Oh, a local Ruby group. Greatest thing since sliced arrays.

We got so envious of the RUGs in the world that we started our own: SSRUG, in Southern Sweden and Eastern Denmark. See the http://rails.se/ website (oh, it seems down at the moment, fickle webservers). We also got 10-12 people at our first meeting.

Good luck with the group, in the future.
